What to expect?
Embark on our excursion to the Mayan Ruins of Chacchoben to discover the history of the Mayan culture hidden beneath the jungle. Designed to meet the itineraries of cruise ships arriving at the Costa Maya, our excursion begins with reception at the port and a 50-minute trip in air-conditioned units to Chacchoben.
Once there, our native guide will take us on a 60-minute walk through the jungle to the Acropolis, the most important part of Chacchoben, which includes plinths, pyramids and stepped buildings dating from the Early Classical to the Late Postclassic period. The archaeological zone, surrounded by jungle, reveals secrets of one of the most brilliant civilizations in the world, which flourished around 300 AD. and was abandoned between 1200 and 1450.
After exploring Chacchoben, we will stop in the town of Pedro Antonio Santos to learn about local agriculture, the basis of its economy. Finally, we will return to the Costa Maya, having enjoyed an educational and enriching trip.
